Our Partnerships

Community Partnerships

As a local provider of wellness, Tribe Yoga strives to give back to our Edinburgh community, and particularly to help those who help the many! Below are some details on our current partnerships and community-based programmes:

Elite Athletes Programme

Back during our beginnings in 2015, we launched our Elite Athlete Programme (EA) for our Tribe community members who also represent Edinburgh, Scotland, or the United Kingdom in professional sport. The benefits of practicing yoga to professional athletes, especially those in high intensity contact sports like rugby, have become increasingly well-known over recent years. Aside from enhancing flexibility, yoga increases oxygen intake, lowers blood pressure, and increases circulation. It is also no secret that professional athletes are under an enormous amount of stress, and yoga proves incredibly beneficial to maintaining mental clarity and mitigating stress and anxiety.

Yoga, therefore, is surprisingly compatible and complimentary to a professional training regiment. Our Yin Yoga and Yin Yang Yoga classes are particularly popular among our Elite Athletes, as it places great emphasis on enhancing flexibility and mobility, while continuing to develop core strength. Our EAs include players for Edinburgh Rugby, Scottish Hockey, Cricket Scotland, and even former British Olympians. Members of Tribe’s Elite Athlete programme are sponsored through a free full Tribe membership and are encouraged to practice yoga as much as possible. Professional athletes not only represent our great city and country, they also serve as role models for the next generations of athletes. They truly help the many!

Edinburgh Young Professionals

Edinburgh Young Professionals (EYP) is an organisation originally founded in 2009 that provides opportunities for young Edinburgh career professionals to network and connect with other young professionals outside of their respective industries. With membership costing £0, EYP regularly hosts networking events at locations around Edinburgh and offers promotions to its members in partnership with local businesses.

After launching a promotion for EYP members in November 2018 that yielded the highest rate of interest over any EYP members-only promotion to date, Tribe Yoga has partnered again with EYP to create the Healthy Young Professional Initiative. This new initiative aims to promote both physical and mental wellness among the city’s young people at the very start of their careers, a pivotal time in one’s professional life. The Edinburgh Young Professionals promote connection, social change, and overall lifestyle improvement to help the many.

The University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh is one of the United Kingdom’s oldest higher education institutions, playing a key role in the culture, society, and extensive history of the City of Edinburgh since its establishment in 1582. Tribe offers yoga classes, free of charge, to students on a periodic basis as a way to introduce them to yoga, while curbing some of the stress that comes with navigating academic life (especially during finals!) Tribe has also partnered on specific courses offered by the University of Edinburgh Business School to serve as a case study for developing skills in accounting and strategic marketing in the small business context. And, of course, our Quartermile location is just steps away from George Square in the heart of the University’s Old Town campus. With 40,000+ students currently enrolled from countries around the world, Edinburgh University’s vast scope and influence helps shape future industry leaders and by doing so, is helping the many!

National Health Service (NHS)

The National Health Service (NHS) provides accessible, universal health care to all in the United Kingdom, and has done so since its founding in 1948. NHS employees work hard every day to deliver services ranging from wellbeing and lifestyle advice, medical treatment for minor and chronic illnesses, social care and support, and mental health services. Tribe Yoga offers discounts to employees of the National Health Service, as well as members of emergency services (police, fire brigade) as a way to extend our gratitude for the work they do for the community on a constant basis. Above most others, the NHS works around the clock to help the many and we are incredibly thankful for them!

Four Square Homelessness Charity

As with many urban centres around the world, homelessness has become an ever-worsening problem that will require the help of as much of the community as possible to change. The Four Square Homelessness Charity operates a number of shelters and training flats around Edinburgh, in addition to furniture stores under their Edinburgh Furniture Initiative (EFI), which sells donated furniture at discounted prices.

Tribe launched a donation campaign during the 2018 holiday season, collecting over 200 articles of winter and yoga clothing from our generous Tribe community, which was donated to Four Square shortly before Christmas. We are looking forward to upcoming charitable projects in 2019 that will continue benefitting Four Square’s operations in Edinburgh.

Retail Partnerships

When developing retail partnerships, Tribe Yoga partners with companies that have values in common with our own. We seek to sell items that are high in quality from companies that are socially and environmentally conscious.

lululemon athletica UK

As a staple of the yoga industry since its founding in 1998, lululemon‘s high quality athletic wear is ubiquitous in the modern world of yoga. At Tribe, we proudly use yoga mats and blocks from lululemon UK in our classes. We have also partnered with the company on Tribe-branded apparel and accessories over the years. Lululemon’s Edinburgh location is only a short walk from our original location in New Town, and we periodically co-host special yoga/ fitness events and evening receptions in the store for our Tribe community, often led by our very own lululemon Ambassador, Bridget Taylor. Look out for future events coming soon!

Sweaty Betty

Just down George Street is Sweaty Betty, a London-based retailer of women’s yoga apparel and other activewear that was also founded in 1998. Sweaty Betty hosts a variety of different fitness classes, workshops and other special events at their Edinburgh location. Our teachers at Tribe Yoga also lead specialty classes at Sweaty Betty Edinburgh on a periodic basis, and our sublime Operations Director, Christel Dyhrberg has recently been named a Sweaty Betty Ambassador!

Yogi Bare

We have recently started selling products by Yogi Bare, a British-founded producer of yoga mats and other products. Yogi Bare’s environmentally-conscious practices are a core part of the company’s mission. All of their products are sourced from eco-friendly materials and are completely biodegradable and non-toxic. Their company’s values fall in line with our own at Tribe, and we are proud to be selling their products at all of our locations.

Studio Takeovers

We love working with new and small companies, especially those from here in Edinburgh, the rest of Scotland, and across the United Kingdom. To this end, we are now offering local brands the ability to utilise our studio spaces for a full business day to showcase their own product. Call it a Tribe Takeover! We give these companies the ability to invite their own clients, bring in their own staff, and use the entirety of the retail space at our studios (any one of the three!) Of course, we will remove all of our existing Tribe retail prior to Takeover Day. And if you wish, our Tribe Teachers will even host a class of your choice for your staff and guests! For a full takeover day, the cost is £500. Please e-mail [email protected] if you’re interested in hosting a Tribe Takeover, or have any additional questions.
