Sophia has always been a fan of active living and started early with skiing and competitive figure skating as a child. Working in hotels for years, a slipped disk forced her to stop and re-evaluate her lifestyle and she found yoga as a tool to build strength and recover. She developed a strong belief in training holistically, which includes strengthening, stretching, cardio, and mindfulness. Following a serious of running injuries, her interest in injury recovery and prevention grew and she gravitated towards Yin Yoga as a favourite to practice and teach. Sophia always wanted to understand the anatomical processes that can lead to a healthy practice, and approaches her classes to ensure the best alignments and safe practice while encouraging students to dig deeper. Sophia likes to bring laughter to her classes as a way of keeping classes fun and light. Favourites now include hiking, skiing (still), running, the gym and TRX–and of course yoga and Tribe Cycle.
